Second Week of Lent 2016

Second Week of Lent 2016

In our readings from the book of Exodus, in the Divine Office, the Israelites have finally left Egypt, deliverd by God’s mighty power. In the event, they had to leave quickly, not even taking time to knead their dough for bread or make provision for the journey ahead.

When it is time to escape from an enslavement we need to make the move. Perhaps it is an addiction or a bad habit that must be broken; an unhealthy relationship that should be ended, a hurt, a painful memory of which we must let go. When God’s grace offers us deliverance we must not delay to go forth towards the freedom he promises.
