Solemnity of Our Holy Mother St Teresa of Jesus

St Teresa was declared a Doctor of the Church 50 years ago. This honour recognised the fact that her teaching on prayer and on the spiritual life in general had inspired, supported and guided people down the centuries and remains as relevant today. Her most famous definition of prayer is also the most encouraging, suggesting as it does the easy intimacy of a warm friendship.

Mental prayer in my opinion is nothing else than an intimate sharing between friends; it means taking time frequently to be alone with Him who we know loves us.
