Elections and workmen

Elections and workmen

It has been a very full week. On Monday Bishop John Arnold presided over our elections. Mother Mary of St Joseph was re elected Prioress. Please do keep her in your prayer as she leads and guides the community through the next three years.  We are very blessed to have her.
The monastery is not very good at retaining heat. It is lovely in the heart of summer but winters can be severe.  Last week was no exception! The poor scaffold men were very valiant in their attempt to complete the erection of the scaffold around the bell tower, but had to stop work because the snow was causing difficulties. They will return in the coming week to take the scaffold to the very top of the tower. Then the roofers will begin the repair work on the lead that was storm damaged. They will also make the bell tower pigeon free. I never thought one could feel sorry for the London pigeon, but seeing a whole row of them on the Chapel roof looking with disbelief at the scaffold around their home…!  We continue to be blessed with good and kind workmen.
Apologies for the ‘quote for the week’.  Maybe we should rename it ‘quote for the month’.  It will be changed soon.
