Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve

As Advent draws to a close our waiting is almost over. This morning we were awakened by the sound of singing as cantors and Mother Prioress made their way around the cloisters carrying the statue of Our Lady, visiting each cell on the way, taking the statue to each sister for her to kiss. It is a wonderful way to be awakened, far nicer than the usual matraque (which sounds like a football rattle only louder!). We then had the solemn proclamation of Christ’s Birth at the beginning of Mass – the martyrology, sung in latin. So, our celebrations begin and at the heart of these special days ahead is the Mass where each of you will be remembered in prayer. We wish you and all your loved ones a very blessed and holy Christmas. We carry in our hearts all those who are suffering at this time. May the Christ child bring them comfort and may they feel the support of our love and prayer. God bless.
The last Advent wreath candle was lit during the Office of Lauds. You can view this here.
