30 Aug Vultum Dei quaerere and Cor Orans
In recent times, Rome has produced two documents on the life of contemplative religious women. Vultum Dei quaerere (Seeking the Face of God) was issued by Pope Francis after an extensive consultation of contemplative communities worldwide. Cor Orans (The Praying Heart) followed, with instructions for implementing the former document.
In these initiatives we can see the Church’s high regard for the life of contemplative nuns and concern that it should be supported and helped to flourish healthily. There is a clear call for complete transparency and accountability on the part of autonomous (independent) houses that can only be good for all of us.
As we study these documents we find ourselves called to renewal in every aspect of our lives and we ask your prayer that we respond generously and responsibly.
