Wishing all our visitors a very happy feast day.

On Saturday, October 15th, we celebrate, with Carmelites the world over, the feast of our holy mother St Teresa of Jesus. We would like to share the words of a lovely hymn, written by Colin Thompson and based on her famous Bookmark. It is reproduced here with the kind permission of the author.

Nothing distress you,
nothing affright you,
everything passes,
God will abide.
Patient endeavour
Accomplishes all things;
Who God possesses
Needs nought beside.

Lift your mind upward,
fair are his mansions,
nothing distress you,
cast fear away.
Follow Christ freely,
his love will light you,
nothing affright you,
in the dark way.

See the world’s glory!
Fading its splendour,
everything passes,
all is denied.
Look ever homeward
to the eternal;
faithful in promise
God will abide.

Love in due measure,
measureless goodness;
patient endeavour,
run to God’s call!
Faith burning brightly
be your soul’s shelter;
who hopes, believing
accomplishes all.

Hell may assail you,
it cannot move you;
sorrows may grieve you,
faith may be tried.
Though you have nothing,
he is your treasure:
who God possesses
needs nought beside.

Quote of the week: "Let us suppose that God is like an immense and beautiful dwelling or palace and that this palace, as I say, is God Himself. Could the sinner, perhaps, so as to engage in his evil deeds leave this palace? No, certainly not; rather, within the palace itself, that is within God Himself, the evil deeds committed by us sinners take place. Oh, frightful thought, worthy of deep reflection, and very beneficial for those of us who know so little. Let us consider brothers and sisters the great mercy and compassion of God, and be extremely thankful to Him. The greatest evil of the world, is that God,our creator, suffers so many evil things from His creatures within His very self" INTERIOR CASTLE point 3
